So, I can tell from the types of responses I’ve been getting and the way people react when I explain what exactly I’m looking for that I’ve conveyed something different unintentionally in my previous posts. I was trying to avoid writing a story because I know it sucks having to read all the information you could come to know about someone through conversation, but EFF it. . ..I guess writing a novel is necessary. Lol.

About Me:

I was born and raised here in Austin. I’m not the typical ANYTHING because of the way I was brought up. I am currently a senior at the University of Houston. I’m in Austin for this summer. I’m living at home with my parents and siblings while I’m here so that I can save up for a trip that I’m taking to NYC in the fall for an internship. My focus this summer is working enough to come up with the money I’ll need to cover my living expenses since the internship will be unpaid. After I graduate next summer, I plan to join the Peace Corps. I’m a foodie!! I love to eat. I love to cook! When the TV is on, it’s on the food network. I like going to museums, running at Town Lake, staying up late and talking on the phone for hours, and snuggling up with glasses of wine while watching Netflix after eating one of my meals for two. I read. I’ll probably be in the book store a bunch this summer because reading new books will pass the time. Right now I’m reading Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I love musical theatre. Yes. . ..I am a Gleek. Don’t judge me.

What I’m Looking For: I’m on CL because my life is in Houston and I don’t know anyone in Austin anymore. I want to meet people. Because I’m travelling to New York this fall and I plan on leaving the country after graduation, I don’t expect to fall in love and establish some deep, long term relationship. That is not to say I wouldn’t be ecstatic if I met someone and that happened. It just isn’t realistic to think that a relationship would survive the distance. I’ve been up front with people about that and I think that’s led them to think that I’m looking for casual sex or a FWB arrangement while I’m here. Not at all. I’m not the FWB type. I’m the become sexually involved with someone after you’ve established that something real is there type. So, am I looking for a romantic connection? Sure, why not? I just want to go with the flow, though. I just want to do what I feel like at the moment. I don’t want to feel pressured to get into a serious relationship or to hop into someone’s bed. I want to meet someone new and enjoy hanging out with and getting to know them.

What I Like: I keep getting asked whether or not I date white men because I’m black. Race isn’t really a factor. I just want to meet someone new. What matters is that you’re intelligent, have something to talk about, have a sense of humor, and are a gentleman. In my previous post I said I’d like the guy to be 5′10. . ..That’s if he’s interested in me romantically and I say that because men are often intimidated by women close to their height or taller. I’m 5′8! If you’re 5′5 and you don’t give a damn. . .Fine. I also said in my earlier posts that I’d like a guy that’s over 21 and under 30. If you’re 35 and at the peak in your career, what will you have in common with a 20 year old senior in college? What will we have to talk about? Will you get annoyed with my youth or inexperience? Let’s be realistic. I would like to hang out with someone who is educated or is pursuing their education so that we have interesting things to talk about and we can relate to each other. . .. I want someone who is going to ask me to dinner, to a movie, to go run at the lake, to grab a cup of coffee. I guarantee you if you ask me to come over to “hang out” and I’ve never met you, I’ll say no. . …and I know this is craigslist but PLEASE no penis pictures! Just be smart, a gentleman, and FUN and you’re golden!
